Blooming Gardeners SCIO

About

Blooming Gardeners is a gardening project in Easter Ross giving adults with learning disabilities and/or neurodivergent conditions the opportunity to enjoy purposeful and productive horticultural activities in a safe environment. Guidance and support are provided by skilled horticultural trainers and volunteers, The gardeners obtain experience and training in plant production, garden maintenance, soft landscaping and fruit and vegetable growing. Regular healthy, outdoor activities like this promote both physical and emotional wellbeing. Self-esteem is boosted by involvement in planning and in the satisfaction derived from seeing the results of their efforts. The community benefits from colourful floral displays and produce donated to the local food bank. Eco-friendly techniques are used and consideration of the natural environment is encouraged through discussion and example. Parents and guardians of the gardeners enjoy the regular respite from their caring role thus provided.
