A Listening Ear [SCIO]

A Listening Ear is a volunteer led befriending service which launched in Wigtownshire in 2020 as a community response to the increased loneliness and isolated faced by many older and vulnerable people as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic. During 2024 the service expanded to include care home residents who, if they should choose, can be visited or contacted by A Listening Ear befriender. In late 2024 we implemented the No One Dies Alone (NODA) service. This service provides end of life befriending to those who would benefit from additional end of life support. In March 2025 we held a successful launch event in the east of the region which already shown signs of being successful with an increase in referrals and volunteers.
