Laikenbuie Ecology Trust protects 140 acres of native woodland, scrub, wetland, and some permanent grass, all areas full of wildlife due the rich mosaic of differing habitats. The Trust has owned 126 acres plus a farmhouse and steading since 2023, and an extra 14 acres is leased. The aims are to manage the land as a working example of sustainable Organic small scale agriculture with landscape re-wilding to preserve and enhance the biodiversity of the flora and fauna. Land based learning and nature education is available for schools and local community groups showing how nature can flourish with minimal intervention. Access for quiet, responsible enjoyment in nature is encouraged.
