Dementia Friendly Largs and District (SCIO)

About

To advance the promotion of health in particular those living with dementia and their carers within Largs and to address their needs with reference to their disability. We help people living with dementia and their carers access the services and support available to them in the local community. We work closely with other organisations involved with dementia. We have designed an information booklet listing the local services available and developed our own website. We distribute emergency bottles to people to hold their personal information at home for emergency services and work with the police in this. We organise music events at care homes, celebrating memories of football events and run Tai Chi classes. We organise annual Memory Walk events where people can participate in memory of their loved ones. We have arranged for the Virtual Memory Bus to attend Largs several times to allow local people to gain a better insight to dementia.
