The Campaign for Freedom of Information in Scotland
✓ Registered charity · SC051263About
CFoIS was established in 1984 as the Scottish part of a UK wide initiative to set up an independent organisation to champion people's right to find out about how they are governed and how their services are delivered. CFoIS has consistently worked to improve public access to official information, to secure a legal right to access information and to enforce that right. CFoIS has been associated with all FoI legal reform in Scotland and continues to focus on the importance of open and accountable government to enable informed scrutiny which includes transparent public services and services of a public nature. Therefore our current campaign is to support legal reform of Scotland's outdated Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and work with all parties at the Scottish Parliament to evidence why action is needed now. CFoIS hosts meetings of the Scottish Public Information Forum to enable right holders and duty bearers to engage and share best practice.
