Knocknagael Ltd is a community not-for-profit company and charity, based in Inverness. It was established to take ownership of the 20.5 acre ‘Smiddy Field’ via a Community Asset Transfer. The Field is one of the fields at the Scottish Government-owned Knocknagael Bull Stud Farm to the south of Inverness. The charity's purpose is to develop the Field as a community asset, and to create, maintain and manage food growing activities, including the provision of allotments for the benefit of the community. After a decade of sustained effort, Knocknagael Ltd took delivery of the Smiddy Field into community ownership in Jan 2026. through the provisions of the Community Empowerment Act (2015). Knocknagael Ltd intends to create a resource for the local community that includes allotments, an orchard, amenity and recreational areas, and a community local food growing area, and in November 2025 received planning permission for the development of allotments and associated infrastructure
