The Trust was established in 1954 by a testamentary deed, and was managed by a Board of Trustees. At that point, the funds available for charitable use were from investments and income from property built by Miss Hunter's father. Following the sale of the property portfolio in 2016, the proceeds were invested in an investment portfolio. This income now generates funds which allow Trustees to give out grants to registered charities addressing health and social needs. Miss Hunter's deed gives the Trustees wide discretion to work within and beyond her stated aims. Today, operating as a SCIO, the Trust offers grants to registered charities that support disabled people in Scotland.
