About

Working with theatre professionals, Trojan Women creates and runs psycho-social support and awareness raising drama projects with refugees and asylum seekers in the United Kingdom and abroad, culminating in public performances of plays written and acted by the beneficiaries featuring their own dramatized stories. The purpose is to help alleviate psycho-social distress through meaningful group activity and giving the beneficiaries a platform to tell their stories directly to the general public. Awareness raising is amplified by filming stage performances, documentary films about the process, and a podcast of interviews with beneficiaries Why Am I In Your Country?. Some follow up pastoral work is carried out for beneficiaries. Projects are set up with the cooperation and sponsorship of local authorities, refugee and asylum seeker groups, local theatres. Funding for projects is raised through philanthropic individuals, foundations, and institutions, NGOs, and the National Lottery.
