The organisation’s purposes are to support those finding the experience of using Edinburgh Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Courts difficult, stressful or confusing by using knowledge of the court layout and procedures to guide, direct and signpost users appropriately, listening to users and allowing them to express their feelings without judgement and treating all users with dignity and respect. The charity recruits, trains and organises about 35 volunteers so that there are three listening volunteers available whenever the court is sitting.
