Our charity is set up to provide advise and guidance on environmental and public health matters to Scottish local authorities, Scottish Government, Government Departments and Agencies. We promote the consistency of Environmental Health Services by the production of protocols and model standards. We monitor the effectiveness of Environmental Health Services by means of regular surveys. We provide informed briefings related to the management of Environmental Health Services and monitor workforce planning, vacancy management etc. Our charity manages the distribution of 'restricted funds' to support the training of student Environmental Health Officers and trainee Food Safety Officers. We ensure as far as possible that local authorities in Scotland provide training opportunities for students, trainees and modern apprentices pursuing a career in Environmental Health.
