About

The charity was set up to demonstrate and research the marine protected area around Fair Isle by identifying research priorities. FIMRO is the community voice and representation for the DR MPA. We work closely with the community to ensure our objectives are current and meet the communities aspirations for the DR MPA. We undertake locally based research projects, with citizen science a key to engaging the community and wider public. Funding support allows for larger research projects with the information/data and other outcomes feeding into the DR MPA. Ultimately data etc may identify management measures or local agreements to support further research. We actively update the community with DR MPA activities via the Fair Isle Times, newsletters, WhatsApp, meetings and events, and also via the FIMRO website. Presentations and talk around current and new research are popular and well attended.
