Befrienders SCIO

About

Argyll and Bute Befrienders SCIO is set up to reduce social isolation, build resilience and improve the wellbeing of children and young people aged 6–18 across Argyll and Bute. We recruit, train and support volunteer befrienders who provide consistent one-to-one support through regular outings, activities and more importantly through positive relationships. Our staff assess referrals, match young people with suitable volunteers, oversee safeguarding, and carry out regular reviews with families and partner agencies. We work closely with schools, health and social work to ensure early intervention and prevent issues from escalating.
