About

Our rural community, is on the edge of Scotland. Isolation and loneliness are common factors along with depopulation as young folk can drift away. The John O Groats Mill Trust was established to improve our environment for locals and for visitors. The unused watermill, for years a focal point has become so again after a major refurbishment undertaken by the Trust. Its a hub or drop in centre for all ages. A unique building, its a natural focus for community heritage and a catalyst for folk to remember half forgotten stories and skills . It can still work as a mill, an exciting environment for all ages and a stimulating place to explore, learn new skills in traditional engineering and building, understand the food journey from field to plate. Story telling, art and nature all focus in workshop sessions. The Mill brings local people together. It's also a high quality attraction for visitors helping to boost the local economy, making this an attractive place to live in or visit.
