East Dunbartonshire Women’s Aid is set up to support women, children and young people who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic abuse, including coercive control. Our aim is to improve safety, wellbeing and long-term outcomes, while promoting equality, human rights and freedom from abuse. We do this by providing free, confidential and trauma-informed support across East Dunbartonshire. This includes refuge accommodation, outreach and follow-on support, crisis response, safety planning, advocacy, and specialist support for children and young people. We also deliver group work, prevention and early intervention activities, and awareness-raising and training for professionals. Our work is grounded in feminist values and a person-centred, user-led approach. We work closely with partner agencies, including through MARAC and local violence against women partnerships, to ensure women and families receive coordinated and effective support.
