About

AWS is a global multi-stakeholder network dedicated to advancing the uptake and deepening the impact of credible water stewardship. Our members are organisations from all sectors – business, non-profit, public sector, and academia – with scope ranging from local to global. This multi-stakeholder network provides the foundation of the AWS System. AWS SCIO is responsible for maintaining the integrity and relevance of the AWS System. Central to this system is the International Water Stewardship Standard (AWS Standard), which provides globally applicable framework for major water users to understand their own water use and impacts, and to work transparently within the context of a catchment. Third party certification processes enable sites which conform with the Standard to make credible claims related to their water stewardship practices. We also provide training and knowledge tools and work with companies to promote water stewardship in their supply chains.
