About

Wester Loch Ewe Trust owns and manages a property on behalf of the local community and the public in general. On behalf of the local community, it has successfully carried out Phase 1 of what may be a multi-phase renovation project to bring the building up to standard and to provide a living-space for key workers coming to the area, to allow them time to familiarise themselves and find a more permanent dwelling. It runs various activities for the community, eg a regular weekly 'drop-in' to combat loneliness and isolation in the very remote and scattered rural area in which it operates. a weekly round-the-year tearoom and second-hand fundraising shop where people ‘pay what they can afford’. It provides a warm space for others to rent for activities eg Art. It mounts exhibitions about the repurposed school in which it operates. WLET is also hoping to buy land in Poolewe to provide much-needed affordable housing, an emergency helipad, and community woodland among other amenities.
