Earth in Common

About

Earth in Common is a Leith-based charity tackling food insecurity, climate change and social inequality by reconnecting people with land, food and community. Originating as Leith Community Crops in Pots, it reclaims underused urban spaces, notably Common Good land, to create inclusive, nature-rich places for growing food, learning and wellbeing. Its core ‘Urban Croft’ model turns derelict sites into community hubs offering accessible food-growing, skills training, outdoor play, and environmental education. On the pioneering Leith Community Croft, it also runs a café, farm shop, markets, events and space hire, alongside campaigning on food systems, food sovereignty and responsible global citizenship. It is now expanding this model through new urban crofts in Trinity and Corstorphine.
