For Bute

About

To advance education, the arts, tourism, heritage, the environment and community development on the Isle of Bute through grants provided to community groups, individuals and charities, from the funds raised through the activities of For Bute Community Thrift Shop. To encourage a sense of community through opportunities to volunteer, donate and purchase items as a means of supporting island-based initiatives and people. For Bute supports major festivals and initiatives (e.g. Bute Noir Crime Fiction Festival, ButeFest music festival) and local organisations from churches to bowling, dancing, shinty and horticultural clubs. In this past year, For Bute grants have included Bute Arts Society, Beachwatch Bute, Bute Animal Rescue, Loch Fad Fishing, Lade Centre, Bute Theatre Company, Bute Island Radio, Isle of Bute Artists’ Collective, Port Bannatyne Community Garden, Bute Community Band, Bute Pipe Band, the Irish dancing club, among others. Grants are publicised in the local newspaper.
