About

The Urban Roots Initiative is a community-led environmental and health improvement charity based in Glasgow’s Southside. We help people improve their wellbeing, connect with nature and take action on the environment through community gardening, conservation, cookery and more. Our activities support those facing social, health or economic inequalities, creating inclusive spaces where everyone can participate with dignity. We manage community gardens, food-growing sites and the Mall’s Mire Local Nature Reserve, offering volunteering, therapeutic gardening, outdoor play sessions and nature-based learning. Working with schools, local groups and partners across the city, we bring people together to build healthier, greener and more resilient communities.
