The aim of the IKDT is to represent local people, and to initiate and develop projects that will benefit the island, both the local community and its visitors.Our key priorities, many identified in the island plan of 2008 but confirmed in our island development plan in 2017 are: the establishment of a community facility road development and improvement, and ensuring the ferry service meets the needs of islanders. Secondary aims are: to protect our natural environment and heritage to understand and improve the visitor experience, developing ways for the community to maximise benefits to island economy. and to improve island resilience There is also an overarching aim, “to develop and sustain the island of Kerrera- our community, environment, amenities, culture and heritage.”
