The Group aims to promote road safety by improving the standard of driving (cars) and riding (motor-cycles). Courses are offered to both drivers and riders to educate Associate Members on the theory of advanced driving and riding. Associates are introduced to an observer who then mentors the associates to assist them to achieve the standard required to pass the IAMRoadSmart assessment. New associates are given one-to-one guidance by their observer until such time as they are deemed ready to undertake the assessment. In the course of each year observers meet to discuss issues. Other meetings, e.g. with examiners can be held to allow both full and associate members to remain up-to-date with current standards.
