SARDA (Southern Scotland) trains and operates search and rescue dogs to find missing and injured people. The association operates primarily in Central and Southern areas of Scotland buts supports search and rescue activities across Scotland. We currently have 5 active mountain rescue dogs on the callout list and a number of trainees in the later stages of their training. Each dog handler is a member of a Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) which includes Killin, Tayside, Ochils, Tweed Valley, Galloway and Borders SAR. We also have a fully qualified Water Search dog who is a member of Nith Inshore Lifeboat. Callouts are instigated by Police Scotland and average over 40 per year, supporting Mountain Rescue Teams across Scotland, Nith Inshore Lifeboat, our sister organisation SARDA Scotland, Police Scotland and sometimes Mountain Rescue Teams and SARDA associations in the North of England.
