Preserve the Eriskay Pony breed in a genetically robust manner. The Eriskay Pony is culturally significant to the crofting history of the Western Isles. It is also highly genetically distinct and carries rare genetic markers making it important in the wider equine world. The societh encourages and supports breeders to maximise the number of foals born whilst maaintaining the genetic integrity of the breed. The society uses sophisticated genetic analysis tools to identify the value of every potential genetic match and this is used to drive the support given to breeders.
