The College is incorporated under the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992 and is funded directly by the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC). The College is a charity (Scottish Charity Number SC021174) registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and is recognised by HM Revenue and Customs as a charity for the purpose of Section 205, Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988. As such, the College is exempt from Corporation Tax on its charitable activities. The College receives no similar exemption in respect of Value Added Tax.
