SOSCN supports the development of high quality school age childcare in Scotland based on children's rights to such care and to support families and communities by enabling parents and carers to work or train, or care for others. We support the nearly one thousand services, that is breakfast clubs, after school care clubs and all day holiday care services, by working to support positive policies at national and local government level. We campaign across political parties to commit support to services. We provide practice support, information resources and training and quality development resources to the services. School age childcare services, many of whom are also charities in Scotland, are generally regulated by the Care Inspectorate and staff must register with the Scottish Social Services Council and meet qualifications standards similar to early learning and childcare.
