About

The charity curates the historical objects and documentary records of the Catholic Church in, and relating to, Scotland, including the Scots Colleges (seminaries) in Rome and in Salamanca. The collections include items of national and international significance, such as the Memorial Portrait of Mary Queen of Scots, and documents relating to Jacobite history. Themes can include education, family history, communities, social change etc. Our historic Collections are a widely-used resource, and we encourage and promote public outreach including visits, lectures, symposia and special events. Access to our collections is not restricted by ability to pay, and our collections are open during normal working hours. Catalogues, and a virtual museum, can be consulted online. The museum and the modern archive are currently relocating to new premises expected to be in Glasgow, and we will advertise their anticipated re-opening date(s) when this can be confirmed.
