Scottish Oral History Group
✓ Registered charity · SC015909About
We support and further the methods and practice of oral history amongst the public at large, including in academic settings as well as in wider community and heritage settings. We do this by representing oral history, broadly defined, in a range of different settings (as reflected by the backgrounds and expertise of our current trustees), representing the Group at conferences and events, and working in collaboration with other groups and organisations who support and develop oral history, including the UK Oral History Society. We were originally established as a Group in 1978 to “promote, develop and refine” oral history methods and to make these “better known and more widely used in the investigation of Scottish life” (see our website), and we continue these general aims through the work of our Group. Our Annual Report outlines some of the work we have been doing during 2024 and some of our plans for the future.
