The charity was set up to advance the education of the public in the art and science of music by:- 1) establishing and running an orchestra. 2) the promotion, improvement, development and encouragement of the public education in the performance of music with particular emphasis on Scottish music, through the presentation of public concerts, recitals and recorded works. 3) the promotion, encouragement and preservation of the heritage and culture of traditional Scottish music, particularly Scottish fiddle playing. 4) making donations and providing the services of the orchestra for fund raising and other charitable purposes.
