About

Caithness Agricultural Society, founded in 1830, promotes agriculture and rural industries for public benefit in Caithness. As a membership organisation, it coordinates the annual Caithness Show, the county’s largest event and a key highlight of the rural calendar. Held on the third Saturday in July, the show alternates between Wick and Thurso, attracting locals and tourists alike. It showcases the best local livestock with competitions for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, poultry, rabbits, and cavies. Industrial and flower sections highlight talents in baking, crafts, and art. The show also features trade stands, local food and drink, craft exhibitors, cookery and lifestyle demos, and main ring attractions like the livestock parade and vintage tractor display. The event celebrates and supports Caithness’s rural industries while fostering community pride and participation.
