The said trustees shall lend out and invest the sums payable to them thereunder in any one or more of the modes in which my Trustees are hereinafter authorised to lend out and invest the funds under their charge and in such proportions as they shall deem proper... and out or the interest, dividends, rents or other produce to be derived therefrom they shall make payment at Christmas yearly of a Bounty not exceeding Five pounds sterling, nor less than Two pounds sterling, each, to as many aged, or sick, or infirm, respectable males or females, in poor or indigent circumstances, residing within the Burgh of Hawick and not in receipt of parochial relief.
