It is set up to help prevent and relieve poverty, help in the advancement of education, arts, heritage, culture and science. In FY24/25 the charity has made payments to beneficiaries, educational grants to students, run its own awards for students, donated to various educational projects and an apprentice award scheme run by the Trades House of Glasgow and made numerous donations to other local charities relating to poverty, ill health and the weaving trade and its heritage.
