The charity was established in 1725 for the protecting of trade and support, comfort and relief of the Members and their and children becoming poor and indigent. Income received by the charity is used as far as possible in making aliment payments to deserving Members or where appropriate, wives and children. Applications for support are considered by the Trustees at their regular meetings.
