The charity was set up to promote and encourage the maintenance, improvement and preservation of the landscape and built heritage of the Highlands and Islands. The charity has in the past purchased buildings in order to restore, renovate or repair the buildings for onward sale. A change in funding means that the charity has now been more involved with advising other organisations and the preparation of feasibility studies.
