About

RHET's principal activity is the promotion of the working countryside, food and farming to young people aged from 3 to 18 years of age. RHET aims to create the opportunity for every child in Scotland to learn about the countryside and to ensure a wider understanding of the environmental, economic and social realities of the Scottish countryside. It does this by: • Providing the opportunity for schoolchildren to visit a working farm or the countryside, providing reliable and balanced information on food production, farming and rural issues. • Supplying resource materials which will assist teachers and pupils in their studies linking to Curriculum for Excellence and key areas including food, life cycles, sustainability and STEM. • Promoting a better understanding of land use, social and environmental changes taking place in Scotland. RHET also helps develop a network of local groups based in thirteen regions across Scotland to deliver the aims of RHET on a local basis.
