Scoraig Community Centre Group

About

The charity is set up to run/maintain the community centre. Residents gather in the centre to socialise & it is a venue for all five Community Groups for meetings & events. It provides hall & kitchen spaces for the Primary School for PE, cooking & other lessons, & is an alternative venue when the Primary School has to shut for repairs. When older residents & families join in activities at the Centre it helps others to get an idea of their general health, & if they need any support. Gathering as a community in a shared space promotes cohesion, assists health & well-being, a key aim for the charity. This enables us to identify the shared challenges Scoraig faces as a coastal community & how the community together can adapt to economic changes, climate damage & changing weather patterns. The charity has undertaken a major refurbishment project to refurbish & modernise the building - a valued community asset - & to improve its energy performance towards minimal carbon emissions.
