The Farm Animal Care Trust (FACT) was started in 1967 by the late Ruth Harrison, whose pioneering book 'Animal Machines (1964) did much to arouse public concern about the welfare of farm animals.Today, the Trust carries on Ruth's original aims of improving animal welfare through research and public education.
