To apply the funds received by way of the annual Mayor's Appeal of Durham City for the benefit of any registered charity or charities as shall be selected by the Mayor of Durham in his or her year of office and to further such exclusively charitable purposes for persons of all ages who are in need, living within the area District of the City of Durham and the surrounding area.
