To make the stay of patients in Hospital more comfortable and to provide items of equipment which are not readily available on the N H S but which will aid recovery. Every patient in the hospital at Christmas gets a gift, each emergency patient admitted gets a "welcome" pack for essential items e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc.
